New Halo 3 Vidoc and you WILL NOT get banned for playing Halo 3 early!

There's another vidoc been added to Bungie.net here, it features details about the saved films functions and Forge in Halo 3. There's also a saved films text tutorial at that link. With 4 days to go till Halo 3 launches, I have to ask, what's the point in releasing these things now as opposed to later? Still I guess it's worth a download.

Oh and if you're lucky enough to have acquired a copy of Halo 3 early, here's some good news for you:

"Hopefully I can put these Halo 3 ban rumors to rest...

If you obtain a copy of Halo 3 prior to its street date of Sept 25th, you will NOT be banned from Xbox Live for playing Halo 3 early (not even my fellow softies)."

Prey Guide: Unleashing Some Cherokee Whoop-Ass

So you're just getting started on Prey, or maybe you're just a little stuck. Here are a few helpful hints for kicking some alien ass on Prey. It took ten years to make, but it shouldn't take ten years for you to complete.

General Tips
-If you are unsure if enemies wait ahead, use spirit walk (Y) to scout ahead and if need be, use your spirit bow to take out enemies.
-The spirit bow is a highly effective weapons, several headshots can wipe out a Centurion after the first encounter.
-Headshots with normal weapons aren't always effective
-If you're stuck on a puzzle, look for the sun symbol, it's your only solution.
-Remember you can use secondary fire, which is often more damaging than primary fire.
-Remember to keep your leech gun charged
-The most effective leech gun charges (lightning and sunbeam) should be used sparingly, they're lifesavers.

Fodder
(Those pesky, weak dog like creatures, seen occasionally throughout the game.)

-It seems all the Fodder are made to waste a little of your ammo. Use your spirit bow on them or a grenade, don't waste any precious ammo.

Hounds
(The bigger dog like creatures with exposed brains, cause more damaged, take more bullets)

-Hounds are tougher than the Fodder, so keep a nice distance between them and you, but don't snipe them, keep moving backwards and use normal fire.

Hunters
(The most common and human-like enemy alien in the game, they often appear from portals. Deadly in groups, however they can easily be annihilated)

-Headshots with the snipe function of your rifle will kill a Hunter in one shot, which is incredibly useful
-A blast from the acid sprayer in the abdomen or chest seems to kill a Hunter in one shot too.
-The leech gun is also highly effective against hunters, but the leech gun ammo should be preserved for larger enemies.

Mutilated Humans (MH)
(Strong enemies, will only attack if you attack them or linger around them for too long, if you can avoid them, but I take comfort knowing they're dead and not following me...)

-These super-humans can survive losing their head, and when they lose it they chase you. A secondary shot from your rifle (sniper mode) will kill a headless MH.
-A spirit bow shot can kill an MH in one shot.
-Heavy weapons aren't necessary, but they are a help. However it's better to save your most powerful ammo.
-Don't linger around them, and if you can, leave them be.

Harvesters
(They come in two varieties, one floats, the other walks around on mechanical legs and hides in flaps in walls and on floors. One thing they have in common is that they're both a major pain in the ass!)

-Use your Leech Gun on these beasts, and generously, they're what you've been saving your ammo for.
-The spirit bow is good for softening them up
-They are quite tough, so be patient and use your heavier weapons (ie the weapons you get later on in the game)

Mutate
(Rather large creatures with the giant claw)

-Avoid them when they charge, or you'll be in the Death Realm alot.
-Use your heaviest weapons such as the Leech Gun, Auto Cannon and Launcher. They're another reason to save ammo.

Gasbags
(Like green jellyfish that fly and spit acid)

-The Lightning Leech works best, it'll pop these annoying things quickly.
-Sometimes it's useful to keep them alive, they attack anything that moves, which is helpful when you have little ammo.

Drones
(Flying robots, major pain in the ass)

-When in a vehicle, it can be useful to use the tractor beam to draw them in and then blast them.
-The Leech gun is the best way to get rid of them.

Wraiths (and Wraith Children)
(Those spirit things, blue, red and child)

-The spirit bow is the only way to kill the blue and red ones, because you only meet them in the Death Realm.
-The Wraith Children take a bit of hammering, use the Spirit Bow to kill them, it seems to be quite effective.

*Contains spoilers past this point*

Bosses

Centurion
(The first boss)

-Hammer away at this beast
-Use the spirit bow
-Hide behind pillars, collect ammo as you move around

Girlfriend X
(Jen grafted onto some reptilian beast)

-This beast can heal itself, but you can stop that by blasting away at the probes that it uses to heal itself. Destroying these probes destroys it's weapons.
-Avoid it's attacks, run around lots.
-Don't use heavy ammo until it's probes are destroyed.

The Keeper
(Big brainy things that shift using portals)
Note: The first and only the first keeper can summon any beast that exists on the Sphere. While killing these beasts, save your Leech Gun ammo.

-Leech gun (lightning and sunbeam) do the most damage.
-Take cover while it throws objects around and fires.
-Only attack when it's shields are down.
-Unleash your heavy weapons.

Mother
(Needs no explanation, final boss)

Round 1

-To destroy the case the boss is in, you must use your spirit bow on the glass panels. No other weapons will damage it.
-Enemies warp into the area, destroy them in order to gain more spirit energy.
-She can do no damage here
-Use this time to charge your Leech Gun if it is empty/not full.

Round 2
-The corners of the "arena" contain mines, press the pads on these corners to release a mine
-When mother floats close, shoot the mine then unleash some heavy fire
-Repeat this process till she dies. Then pat yourself on the back, you completed the game and unlocked some concept art.

*End of spoilers*

That concludes the guide. Good luck. Go whoop some ass.

PS: If you want an easy achievement, use the poker machine on board the Sphere. It gives royal flushes most of the time!

Viva Pinata: Getting that Dragonache!

Ok, so I recently got Viva Pinata, it rocks so if you don't own it, get it, so you can kill time before Halo 3. Anyway, After a day or two my garden was thriving and I was leveling up pretty fast. Then I heard about the Dragonache. My first reaction was to think, nah that's too hard for me to get, but after chasing an exotic garden for a few hours, I decided a Dragonache would be well worth acquiring.

Preparing To Get Dragonache
You can't just attract a Dragonache, you need to mine for one! Once you are level 26 or higher, you are able to build a mine and hire miners.

-First start a new garden and leave it empty, but whack out most of the hard soil.
-Go to Willy Builder and order a mine at night, so it will be reading in the morning.
-After ordering a mine, go to Arthur's and hire TWO miners.
-Acquire a Candary (either buy a Sparrowmint from the Hunter (go express) and feed it a buttercup or just purchase a Candary from the Hunter) and give it a gas mask and a joy sweet or two.
-When the mine is complete wait for the miners to arrive. Give them both 3 lots of $100 to make the overjoyed, this will make them mine better. Then send them down the mine with the Candary.
-Order a worker house from Willy Builder and place it near the mine, so that miners can mine more.

NOTE: Make your mine more profitable by purchasing a Lantern O Loot from Ivor Bargain. It increases the value of money found by 5X!

Getting Dragonache
Getting this fabled beast requires lots of patience. It could take days to get a Dragonache. Even a whole Pinata month! The important thing is to keep your workers and Candary overjoyed. Buying the Candary a house and naming it is a good way to keep it happy, but the best way is buying it sweets.

If you need money during your quest for the Dragonache, your mining garden is the perfect place for growing chilli en masse. Plant rows of chilli and give each chilli 3 doses of special mix fertiliser, this will make the value of each chilli 400 chocolate coins, repeating this all day will get you quite rich. You could use this wealth to make more mines, hire more workers and more Candaries, helping your quest to get a Dragonache.

Hatching your Dragonache
So after a long search you finally have your egg. Hatching it is simple. Buy a Cluckles from Paper Pets and direct it to your egg. It will sit on it and cause it to hatch, congratulations, you have a Dragonache! The place where the egg hatches determines it's colour.

-Hatching it on dirt/mud will make it brown and purple
-Hatching it on dry/cracked earther will make it golden
-Hatching it in water will make it blue
-Hatching it on any type of grass will make it green

Maturing your Dragonache
Unfortunately, your pesky Dragonache doesn't go into a cocoon and mature itself, you have to feed it stuff to mature it.

To mature a Dragonache must eat:
-A bottle of milk
-A snapdragon flower
-A dragumfly
-A Redhott
-And a Salamango

There, the journey is over, you have an awesome Dragonache. You can only have one per garden though. As a result they cannot romance. The dragonache cannot be put in a box, sent or traded and it has no home. It cannot get sick or die or have accessories. If it is sad, it will fight other Pinatas.

Apparently, there are over 20, 000 Dragonache variants...enough to keep you busy for a while!

Check out Pinata Island for information on everything Viva Pinata.

Halo 3 Special Edition Console Explodes Into Stores This Sunday

That's right folks, the Halo 3 Special edition console is released this coming Sunday. Priced at around US$400 it's being touted as a must have for the hardcore Halo fans. I just wish they'd announced it before I bought my Xbox 360, which I bought for Halo 3. Perhaps if I send in my Xbox 360 claiming it suffers from the dreaded RRoD (Red Ring of Death) problem they'll return a special edition console for inconveniences caused by it. Yeah right.

Master Chief Brings The Fight to Madame Tussauds

Earlier this week, the Master Chief was unveiled at Madame Tussauds, making him the first videogame character to be featured at Madame Tussauds ever. Forget those action figures below, I want the 7' 2" real deal!

I got my hands on Prey earlier this week, a little late I know, and I have to say it's pretty damn fun!

Halo 3 Action Figures/ Statues + Final Fantasy XIII

This week in the Bungie weekly update, some Kotubukiya Halo 3 Statues were revealed. They look fantastic but just looking at the price tag makes my pocket ache. Anyways see it for yourself here.

Away from Halo 3, Square Enix have announced that Final Fantasy XIII will be cross platform and cross region. Hiromichi Tanaka also said it won't be long before more secrets surrounding FF XIII will be revealed.

Bungie provides us with an insight into the Covenant arsenal here. Quite interesting, but I wanna get my hands on those babies.

Xbox Live Updates - Parental timer & Sony Getting Dirty

Bad news here for anyone who's parents are trying to limit their use on their 360, it seems the next Xbox Live Update could contain a password protected timer, limiting the time a chosen user is allowed to use the Xbox 360.

It seems the guys at Sony have been attempting to sabotage Halo 3's wikipedia entry, claiming the graphics would only be as good as Halo 2. Sony, that's a low blow.

Fanboy Fever..Halo 3

We're so close now. Halo 3 is less than 3 weeks away. If you haven't already, you should get it pre-ordered. For all of those who have already pre-ordered and want to waste some time, you might want this handy Halo 3 RSS Reader. I don't care if you already have an RSS reader, this one is cooler.

Also, check out the Halo 3 Live Action short by WETA digital. It's really awesome stuff, the movie would be really cool.

If you still need more time to kill, there's a new map pack for Gears of War, totally free, on Xbox Live. And if you're really bored just read this blog.

For those of you who can't stand all this hype over Halo 3, don't worry we'll cover something for you soon.

Top 5 Budget (or at least lower priced than most) Games you MUST own

Here's the Top 5 Budget games:

5. GUN - If GTA was a western it would be GUN. A fun game with some interesting weapons. Finally you get to play cowboys and Indians again!
4. Need For Speed: Most Wanted - Heaps of fun, lots of playability and customising your rides makes it well worth the buy.
3. Saint's Row - Not just another GTA clone, Saint's Row is incredibly fun.
2. Dead Or Alive 4 - Getting the achievements on this will have you playing for weeks, which is ok because it's a brilliant fighting game.
1. Viva Pinata - This one's not just for the kids. It's fun, addictive and funny and you can get the whole family involved!

Prices vary around the world, so where you live they might not be classed as budget games.

Releases This Week

Scheduled for release on the Xbox 360 this week:

GTR - 1st September

Project Gotham Racing 4 - 3rd September

Blacksite Area 51 - 3rd September

Medal of Honor Airborne - 4th September

Cyberball 2072 (Xbox Live Arcade) - 5th September

Fatal Fury Special (Xbox Live Arcade) - 5th September

That's all for this week! Overall a good week to be a 360 gamer, September has greater things in store for us though...

Pimp your 360

Let's face it, the Xbox 360, while rather nice looking, is quite plain. We can purchase faceplates, but the rest of the 360 then remains plain still. The solution my friends is simple. Skins! Several sites (Decal Girl , 360 Covers ) feature high quality vinyl skins. You can even design your own!

If you still want more, or are unhappy with the white 360 case, help is at hand. Some sites sell custom cases! You can get black cases, transparent cases (perfect for LEDs), green cases and more. The green cases are pretty handy if you want a Halo style 360. Not only can you get custom cases for the console, but you can also get them for the controller, some even come with LEDs.

Now onto LEDs. You have a transparent case or something, or maybe you want your vents to glow, LEDs are your solution. Carefully planned LED arrangements look the biz. LED arrangements that someone else made look even better. Yep, you can even buy LEDs that just plug into your Xbox 360. Awesome.

For awesome customised 360s and more look here.
